BRIEF BIOGRAPHY

Tommy Stines

Tommy began his golfing at age twelve (12), as his parents would drop him off at a local golf course at daylight and pick him up in the afternoons during the summer on Saturdays. When not playing, Tommy was caddying to pick up extra dollars so he himself could play golf. As he became more and more addicted to the game, he began to play competition every chance he got. This led to playing in literally hundreds, and hundreds of amateur tournaments, winning over 100 of them. Along the way, many wonderful, scary, thrilling, and disappointing experiences awaited him. Tommy holds several course records, many scores of 29 on the nine hole segments of golf courses and several eighteen-hole course records, the best being a 61 at a local course. Tommy turned professional in August of 1999 when he turned fifty (50), and began playing on mini tours, and Monday qualifiers on the regular PGA Champions (Formerly the Senior) Tour. Due to an arthritic condition in his hands, Tommy is now semi-retired, resulting in not being able to play a full tournament schedule. This, however, does not prevent him from giving clinics for Boys & Girls Clubs, Church Groups, the annual Kings Mountain Country Club Golf Academy for children, and working with many non profit groups to help advance their life skills & education.

Tommy serves as the host professional for the newly founded Celebrity Par Three Tour, a Celebrity Tour playing ten events at elite resorts across the United States, and also serves as the host Professional for several Celebrity events, the Clifton Davis Celebrity Golf Classic, serving in this position for the last six (6) years, while also being the defending Champion of the event . In addition to the duties as host professional, Tommy has made several television and radio appearances with Clifton Davis supporting golf, community outreach programs, and diversity in general. Tommy also serves in this position for former World Heavyweight Champion James “Bonecrusher” Smith’s Celebrity Golf Classic, is the host Professional for Tarheel and former LA Laker James Worthy’s Celebrity Golf Classic, is the host professional for Kelvin Seabrook’s  “Kelvin for Kids” Celebrity Golf Tournament; Kelvin is a former World Bantam Weight Boxing Champion, is also the host professional for the Holy Angels of North Carolina Golf Outing, a fund raising event for the Holy Angels facilities which provide 24/7 medical care & housing for physically challenged children and adults. Tommy participates as a celebrity in many of the popular Celebrity events across the Country, as his busy schedule allows. Tommy has also worked with representatives of the PGA, the USA Network, the Multi-Cultural Golf Association, and the Nike Golf Learning Centers in clinics and programs for children. He has organized literally hundreds of tournaments and outings ranging from small to large corporate outings, one day social events, to national events with hundreds of participants. As you can see, Tommy has extensive knowledge and experience to add to his love of the game he wants to share with golfers everywhere
